July 27, 2017: We are back in Huaraz after a two successful trips with the University of Texas • Rio Grande Valley. We did the Salkantay, Ausangate, and Choquequirao treks, explored colonial Cusco with Dr. Katherine McAllen, learned about high altitude ecosystems with Dr. Mark Andersen, and contemplated various Inca ruins with Dr. Robert Bradley. We also visited the campesino community of Willoc for a Pachamanka (a traditional harvest meal) and to experience a more sustainable culture first hand.
October 20, 2016: Hi, This is a beta version of our new website. Please write us if you find any problems or if we’ve forgotten something important. We’re currently in Huaraz, but in November Gladys is headed to Ecuador for the Mujer Montaña gathering, which is an event designed to promote women’s climbing in South America, and I’m going to Cusco/Apurimac/Madre de Dios to do some scouting for next year and learn some more birds of the Amazonian basin. I'll be on my own, so if you have a hankering to do some exploring and are going to be around let me know.
