Choquequirao Trek to Machu Picchu
Choquequirao is an enormous, sprawling, and still only partially uncovered ruin located on a remote and spectacualar perch high above the Apurimac River. The trek to get there is demanding, but lots of fun and within reach of reasonably fit people. We do Choquequirao as a ### day trek that continues into the deep cloud forest beyond the ruins and finishes at Machu Picchu.

Ausangate Trek & Machu Picchu
We do the 5-day Ausangate trek as a part of a 13-day guided trip to Cusco. We'll visit the ruins of Pisaq, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu, the Maras salt mines, the circular terraces of Moray, the weaving community of Chincheros, the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, and Cusco itself before we begin or trek. The trek itself begins about three hours from Cusco in Upis. Our first night we camp near hot springs with the most incredible view imaginable. From there our route ascends into the heights passing many lakes and beautiful vistas the whole way. The two high passes, and these are the highest passes used by any established trek in Peru, are approached by gradual ascents so they are not too difficult. We finish near more hot springs in Pacchanta. The full trip itinerary is flexible.

Cusco is the obvious destination for study abroad programs and other kinds of educational adventures. On these trips we visit the classic sites, local indigenous communities, explore Cusco's incredible natural surroundings, and we can combine this with a trek appropriate for the students. The educational element is up to you, but we can provide appropriate site-guides to compliment the instructor's and our own knowledge.
